As the final assessment for my popular culture unit, I was tasked with creating any piece of media that responded to popular culture theory. For this assessment, I decided to tell the story of a small country town through newspaper, journal and archive fragments.
Alongside creating the narrative, my visual task was mirroring the aesthetic and feel of old, dated archive resources. This included fragments from books, newspapers, reports and a postcard.
It was fun and interesting to create media intentionally designed to look dated and put together without much thought. It was a unique experience to design material with the focus of looking convincing rather than looking good.
